A complete chess platform in your pocket
PlayChessOnline is a free online chess site you can use straight from your phone browser — no download, no setup. Start a game in a couple of taps, keep your rating and history between sessions, and train with puzzles and lessons whenever you have a spare minute.
Play chess online against bots or friends
The play chess online page lets you choose an engine opponent from beginner to grandmaster strength, or share a device for pass-and-play. Every time control from bullet to classical is supported, with clocks, sound, resign, draw offers and rematch. Games against bots and humans are always unlimited and free.
Chess puzzles and tactics training
Solve rated chess puzzles matched to your strength. Each solve updates your puzzle rating with an Elo-style calculation and moves you along the rank ladder from Beginner to Grandmaster. Streaks, hints and accuracy stats are tracked, and the best solvers appear on the puzzle leaderboards.
Learn chess and practise endgames
Short chess lessons cover fundamentals, openings, tactics and strategy, while endgame training has you play out rook, queen, minor-piece and pawn positions against the engine until the technique sticks. Everything sits together in the learn chess hub.
Tournaments, variants and your progress
Enter online chess tournaments, try chess variants such as King of the Hill and Three Check, then review results in your game history or check ratings, achievements and stats on your chess profile. Tournaments and variants never count toward the weekly free allowance.
